sailing in icy conditions WInter 2017 - S/v Aleboat

Sailing in mid January around ice in the Great South Bay.  Even though it looked like no wind on the water, we were actually moving at 3-4 knots. We saw many different species of birds flying around and even saw a seal pop it's head out of the water for a second. But, we had to be careful not to go too far because the thick sheets of ice were shifting and could've blocked our path back to the canal. Definitely a cool experience sailing in those conditions!
